Is this an AI detector?
No, and on purpose. AI detectors are unreliable and biased, they wrongly flag real students, especially non-native English writers. This tool does not guess whether AI wrote your essay. It flags where your writing reads generic, cliche, or cookie-cutter, which is the actual thing that hurts a college essay.
How does it work?
It runs entirely in your browser, nothing is uploaded. It scans for common college-essay cliches, filler and AI-sounding vocabulary, uniform sentence rhythm, and a lack of specific detail, all signals that an essay could have been written by anyone. Then it shows you exactly which lines to make more specifically yours.
What score should I aim for?
Lower is better. A low score means your essay reads distinctive and personal. A high score means it reads generic and forgettable, the thing admissions officers skim past. Use the flagged lines as a to-do list, then rewrite them with real, specific detail only you could provide.
